[ENGLISH] Official Statements Solidarity for Egypt

[ENGLISH] Official Statements Solidarity for Egypt

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

The IIUM Journalism Club (JC IIUM) strongly and firmly condemns the cruel and barbaric acts of the Egyptian troops under the command of General Abdul Fatah al-Sisi, against the civilians of Egypt, its senior citizens, children and women.

JC IIUM also condemns the mass killings alleged to disperse peaceful demonstrations in support of Dr. Morsi legitimate presidency. The Egyptian military has clearly violated the fundamental principles of human rights as they are the protectors of the security of their people, not its perpetrators. The illegal Interim Government's declaration of emergency rule for a month is contrary to the principles of democracy and thus, null and void.

Therefore, we urge the public to express their solidarity and support for the legitimate President of Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Morsi and its people who are being oppressed by the brutal army.

We call on the government, NGOs, political parties and Malaysia's multiracial citizens to use all of their political and diplomatic influences to pressure and strongly denounce the military and the interim government, and the killings and violence against citizens demanding their democratic rights through peaceful demonstrations.

All NGOs, clubs and organizations throughout Malaysia are urged to unanimously release an official statement to firmly condemn the atrocities of the Egyptian military against its own people.

We exhort the Malaysian students, and the public, to search for news from authentic sources to avoid misunderstandings and worst, calumny that would be detrimental later in this life and the Hereafter. We place our deep hopes in the people of Malaysia to work together to contribute to the success of the media war in raising awareness regarding the true situation in Egypt.

We invite the students of IIUM to unite in our support for the #R4BIA movement which has become a symbol of worldwide solidarity to support the people of Egypt.

Among other practical steps we can take are to assist out brethren in Egypt is to fill our mosques and make them reverberate with the recitations Qunut Nazilah during all of the daily congregational prayers. Additionally, we can pray the funeral prayers for the martyrs of Egypt.

"We do not need to be Egyptians to be sympathetic, suffice is to be a human being." (Recep Tayyib Erdogan, 2013)

Yaa Rabb, tahfadz Misr wa ahlahaa!
