PANELISTS


Huseyin Oruc
He is one of the prime movers of the Gaza Flotilla mission. He was born in Malatya, Turkey in 1969. He gained diplomas in Tourism Management and Public Management From Boğaziçi University. He is one of the founders of The Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief, IHH, a Turkish NGO based in Istanbul.
For 8 years, he managed various international projects of IHH, such as the Banda Aceh tsunami relief effort in 2004, the Pakistan earthquake relief effort in 2005, the Freedom Flotilla to Gaza in 2010, the Haiti earthquake relief effort in 2010, the Qurbani Project 2010 in 126 countries, the Pakistan flood relief effort 2010, the Cataract Project (2007- ongoing, more than 43.000 cataract surgeries are completed) in 10 African countries etc.He is a founding Trustee of The Humanitarian Forum, UK, and founding member of UNIW (the Union of NGOs of Islamic World) on behalf of IHH. He was head of the Preparation Committee of Code of Conducts for Islamic NGOs for OIC. He is a delegate for UN and OIC on behalf of IHH. Mr. Oruc is currently deputy president of Board of Trustees.

Prof. Mattias Gardell 
Prof Hans Bertil Mattias Gardell is a Swedish scholar of comparative religion. He is the current holder of the Nathan Söderblom Chair of Comparative Religion at Uppsala University, Sweden. He earned a Ph.D. in the history of religions at Stockholm University in 1995 and became a docent in 1999. He has been working at the Department of Comparative Religion and the Centre for Research in International Migration and Ethnic Relations at Stockholm University. He has also lived and studied in Cairo, Egypt. Gardell specializes in the study of religious extremism and religious racism in the United States, studying groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, Nation of Islam, and folkish movements in Neopaganism (Odinism). Gardell was one of eleven Swedish activists from Ship to Gaza participating in the flotilla that tried to break the Israeli embargo of the Gaza strip. Along with his wife, Gardell was aboard MV Mavi Marmara during the Israeli armed forces raid on the flotilla on the morning of 31 May 2010.

Santi Soekanto 
Santi Soekanto is the former Chief Editor of The Brunei Times. She is the founder of Sahabat Al-Aqsha and editor of www.sahabatalaqsha.com.

One of the hundreds of survivors in the Mavi Marmara raid, she wrote a very touching letter entitled 'Gaza tidak membutuhkanmu!' or 'Gaza doesn't need you.'

Wisnu Pramudya 
Wisnu Pramudya, or best known as Dzikrullah, is an activist at Sahabat Al Aqsa, Indonesia. He is a journalist by profession, serving The Brunei Financial Times as well as many other internet-based news portals, including The Palestinian Information Center.

Prof. Dr N.S Rajendran 
Prof. Dr N.S Rajendran is a Professor at Sultan Idris University of Education, Malaysia.

Dr N.S. Rajendran is the President of Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram, a religious non-governmental organization (NGO) serving the Hindu community of Malaysia.

Rajendran has conducted various workshops and seminars for teachers and ministry of education officials on the teaching of higher-order thinking skills, both locally and in countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong. He has also conducted seminars and workshops to train teachers and ministry of education officials from Malaysia, Maldives, Bangladesh and Nepal in areas such as educational psychology, pedagogy, qualitative research methodology and teacher education.

Datuk Ahmad Zaki Zahid
Chairman of Peace Malaysia (Aman Malaysia). He has been appointed as Executive Director of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) with effect from May 04, 2009. He was appointed to the Board of MRCB on 12 January 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from University of Bristol, England.
Datuk Ahmad Zaki was a Senior Executive Officer at the Issues and Investment Division of the Securities Commission of Malaysia from November 1994 to July 1998. There upon, from August 1998 to February 2000, he worked as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton (Kuala Lumpur/ Singapore). He assumed the role of Special Assistant to YB Dato' Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Minister of Youth and Sports, from March 2000 to June 2001. In July 2001, he joined the Deputy Prime Minister's Office as Special Assistant to Tun Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi and was promoted as the Special Officer to Tun Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi and Head of Policy Unit, Prime Minister's Office, from November 2003 to March 2009.He is Excutive Director of MRCB.

Dr Roslan Mohd Noor 
Dr Roslan Mohd Noor is an academician in Islamic Education Academy, University of Malaya. He is well known to be knowledgeable in the sphere of Palestine history, Jerusalem-Islam, Zionism and other related fields. Dr Roslan obtain his PhD from University of Aberdeen.

He has contributed his latest paperwork on issues relating to Palestine and Zionism in a seminar "Convention The End of The Zionist Agenda" in PWTC.

Another work of him entitled "The History of Rise and Fall of Islamic Reign in Andalusia: Lessons and Boundaries" which was presented in 'Baldatun Tayyibah Seminar: Andalusia Model' organized by Malaysian Ulama Association (PUM). The seminar took place in a seminar hall of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, Shah Alam, Selangor in May 2009.

Zulkefli Mohd Nani 
Deputy President of Muslim Care Society Malaysia (MuslimCare). He was the Chairman of the Crisis Management Team of LIFELINE4GAZA Malaysia when a large group of Malaysian Humanitarian NGOs participated in the International Flotilla to Gaza in 2010.
Zulkefli was also involved in various humanitarian missions across the globe such as to Acheh, Indonesia during Tsunami, to Balakot-Pakistan after the earthquake as well as other humanitarian missions to provide aid to flood victims local and abroad. He also witnessed the collapsed of various towns such as Jabiliyah in Gaza during Cast Lead Operation by Israel when he entered Gaza on 27 January 2009 during the ceased fire duration.
Zulkefli graduated from California State University Fresno, USA with a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics and later obtained his Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. He is currently attached to the International Division of a Malaysian Research Institution.
