Evil of the Whisperer

Did you know that there’s someone wants to destroy people’s iman? They inspire us to behave in an awful manner. They encourage people to commit sins. They cry when a person becomes a good Muslim. Well, they sit just beside you until the end of the life. That is Syaitan. They are whispering couple of words ceaselessly to the son of Adam so that we become a champion of crime. Yes, sin is a serious crime. But, how many of us realize this critical situation? I’m pretty sure most of us were victimized by them, beaten by Syaitan and his crews.

Thus, I would like to share these short videos with you guys. Actually, we are lack of reminder that we are in the constant battle against Syaitan. I was thinking how it would be a great thing if these videos are broadcasted in the television as a commercial break. Wouldn’t it be better?

“Surely the devil is your enemy so take him for an enemy. He only invites his hizb [followers] that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire.”
( Surah Faatir, 35:6 )

Therefore my brothers and sisters do not follow the footsteps of Syaitan. Wake up! We are in the battle against them. Seek refuge from the whispers of Syaitan as Allah taught us in the Qur’an, Surah An-Nas, verse 1-6:

“Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of Mankind. The King of mankind. The God of mankind. From the evil of the sneaking whisperer. Who whispers in the breasts of mankind. From amongst the Jinn and the men.”

Only Allah can grant protection from the evil of Syaitan. According to a Hadith, the Prophet said, "With everyone of you there is a devil." The Companions asked, "Is there a devil even with you?" The Prophet said, "Yes, but Allah has granted me protection against him."

Hence, I would like to end this entry with a quotation from ibn Abbas. He says that the Syaitan is lying in wait for man. When he forgets Allah, he starts whispering, and when he begins the remembrance of Allah, he retreats. So let's remember Him as much as we can, morning and night because He promises us that if we remember Him, He will remember us in turn.

May Allah forgive us our sins and guide us on the siratul mutaqueem. Ameen!

Science And Maths In BM And Mother Tongue In 2012

PUTRAJAYA, July 8 (Bernama) -- The teaching and learning of science and mathematics in national schools will revert to the Malay language effective 2012.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the teaching and learning of the two subjects in Chinese and Tamil national-type schools would be carried out in their respective mother tongue.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister, said the cabinet today approved the suggestion by the ministry to empower the Malay language and strengthen the teaching and learning of the English language at all levels of schooling.

"This strategy was drawn up based on the study and monitoring carried out by the Education Ministry on the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in English since the policy was implemented in 2003," he said when making the announcement at the Education Ministry, here on Wednesday.

The first group of students who studied science and mathematics in the English language since Year One sat for their Ujian Penilian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) last year.

Muhyiddin said the implementation of the policy of using the Malay language in the teaching of the two subjects would be carried out in stages in Year One and Year Four in the primary school and Form One and Form Four in the secondary school beginning in 2012.

However, he said, the change would not involve students in Form Six and matriculation class.

He said in order to ensure that the implementation of the new strategy did not affect the achievement of students who were taught the two subjects in English, the teaching of and examination for the two subjects would be conducted in both languages until the last batch of students who were taught in English completed in 2014.

He said the government made the decision after scrutinising the outcome of studies and surveys carried out on the teaching and learning of the two subjects in English which showed that it could not be implemented as desired.

"What is implemented is the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in English/Malay languages," he said.

Muhyiddin said monitoring by the ministry last year found that only a small group of teachers were using English language fully in the teaching of science and mathematics.

"On the average, the percentage of English usage is between 53 and 58 per cent out of the total time allotted for science and mathematics," he said.

In addition, he said, only a small group of mathematics and science teachers in secondary and primary schools who took the English language Proficiency Level Evaluation test last year achieved the proficiency level.

He said the precentage of students who scored grades A, B, and C for the science subject in the UPSR last year had dropped from 85.1 per cent to 82.5 per cent for the urban schools and from 83.2 per cent to 79.7 per cent for rural schools.

"For mathematics, the achievement of urban schools dropped from 84.8 per cent to 80.9 per cent while the achievement of rural students dropped from 80.9 per cent to 77 per cent," he said.

He said the gap in achievement between urban and rural schools in science and mathematics was becoming wider when the PPSMI (teaching and learning of science and mathematics in English) was implemented.

Muhyiddin said the Trends in Mathematics and Science Study 2007 also stated that the position of Malaysian students in the science subject had deteriorated from the 20th spot in 2003 to the 21st spot in 2007.

"For mathematics, the position of our students deteriorated from the 10th spot in 2003 to 20th spot in 2007," he said.

He said studies by local universities revealed that the level of improvement in the command of the English language by students was nominal, that is, not more than three per cent throughout the implementation of the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in English.

"The command of the English language among students, particularly in the rural areas, was still low making it difficult for them to understand the teaching of mathematics and science in English," Muhyiddin said.

Based on this observation, he said, the government was convinced that science and mathematics must be taught in the language that could be easily understood by the students, namely Bahasa Malaysia in the national schools, Chinese in the national-type Chinese schools and Tamil in the national-type Tamil schools.

Bloody Riots in China's Xinjiang

At least 156 people have been killed and more than 1080 others injured as ethnic violence erupted in Urumqi, northwestern China, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Started on Sunday night, officials said Monday the police put the death toll at 140. Among the 16 newly reported dead, some died in hospitals and others were recovered from street corners.

For decades China has been colonizing Xinjiang, a home to eight million Muslims Uighurs which is rich in oil and gas. They import many Han Chinese, who have now become the majority in the region and hold all political and economic power. Uighurs has suffered political and religious discrimination under Han Chinese rule. In spite of that, Uighur nationalists have waged a low-level campaign against Chinese rule and there continues to be infrequent outbreaks of violence.

Uighurs protesting against the arrest of relatives called for freedom of relatives. Many were women, wailing and waving the identity cards of husbands, brothers or sons they say were arbitrarily seized in sweeping arrests to Sunday's protests in the city of Urumqi.

"My husband was taken away yesterday by police. They didn't say why. They just took him away," a woman who identified herself as Maliya told Reuters. [World Bulletin News Desk]

Islam is not a Nokia

There is nothing wrong in being modern, that’s if you're a fan of mobile phones. As times change, mobiles phones need to be redesigned in shape and size; from big to small and from thick to slim. Even the jet fighters and all sort of electronic or electric appliances, they are restructured and reformed to cope with customers demand and to maximize their efficiency. But Islam is not a Nokia. It could not easily change according to our taste since Islam itself is already a great and ideal religion.

Almighty Allah swt said, which means:
"Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor towards you and have chosen for you Islam as your religion." (Qur'an Al-Maa’idah: 3)

Islam came to change the world with a perfect message and system of life, not to be changed by the world. In present era, it is hard to see Muslims practicing their religion 24 hours a day. Most of us are just being a part time Muslims. No wonder we are lagging behind in all fields and areas. We were oppressed by enemies physically and mentally. People would question why do these happened. Well, there are no other reasons except that we don’t have strong relationship with Allah and we are unattached with Quran.

So let’s open our mind and see what Muslims truly need. We need someone like Abu Bakr r.a. who will stand up with pride, honour and dignity. We need someone like Sultan Muhammad Al-Fateh who managed to conquer Constantinople at the age of 21. It is about time we will have to change. For Islam never change. If we wish to live our life as a Mukmin (believer), we have no choice except to make the Quran our guiding light. Dear readers the responsibility is ours. May Allah grant us the wisdom, courage and the strength to be a full time Muslims. Amin.

"The Quran admittedly occupies an important position among the great religious books of the world.....It first transformed a number of varied desert tribes of the Arabian Peninsula into a nation of heroes, and then proceeded to create the vast politico-religious organisations of the ‘Muhammadan’ world which are one of the great forces with which Europe and the East have to reckon today."

Mardhotillah or Secured Future???

Senario masa kini:

Di dunia ini terdapat hanya 14,000,000 orang Yahudi;
7 juta di Amerika, 5 juta di Asia, 2 juta di Eropah dan 100,000 di Afrika.
Dianggarkan pula ada 1,476,233,470 umat Islam;
1 billion di Asia, 400 juta di Afrika, 44 juta di Eropah dan 6 juta di America.

Setiap daripada 5 orang, seorang adalah muslim;
seorang Hindu nisbahnya 2 Muslim,
seorang Buddha nisbahnya 2 Muslim &
seorang Yahudi nisbahnya 100 Muslim.

US mempunyai 4,000 saintis per sejuta.
Jepun mempunyai 5,000 per sejuta.

The Life of Stars and Roles

When we talk about stars, it comes to one mind of a people who is a popular performer, a very famous and successful person, especially in a field of entertainment and sports. Stars may also be the most important or proficient person of a group. Once a person holds the title of the greatest star will automatically have the greatest role to the society. We couldn’t possibly deny that with great power comes great responsibility.

Well lately, people were fussing about Michael Jackson who passed away on 25th June at the age of 50. There are plenty of sketchy reports updating MJ’s complex and mystery personal affairs. His fans from all over the world had expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of The King of Pop. A public memorial is also going to be held next week in Los Angeles.

But what people don't realize is that there was another upsetting death at the same day when MJ passed away. We were blinded and buried by the big news reported by media and tabloids. Expert Pakistani politician and Islamic scholar passed away at the age of 95. Mian Tufail Muhammad was the second amir of Jamaat Islami, a political party which promotes Islamic values and practices. He was very close and attach to Sayyid Abul A'ala Maududi physically and emotionally.

Leaving behind him is his 4 sons, 8 daughters, grand and great grand children who live around Pakistan, Middle East and USA. An uncountable and priceless contribution late Mian Tufail for the sake of Islam and in political areas would be long remembered especially Pakistani and Muslims society. We prayed to Allah to rest the departed soul in peace and grant strength to the family members to accept this permanent loss with redha and calmness.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments,
but what is woven into the lives of others.
